The 2023 GRAMMY nominations are here, and the preparations for one of the biggest music awards nights of the year have officially started. The 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. It will recognise and honour the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, running from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022.

What’s New At The 2023 GRAMMYs?

This year, the Recording Academy has announced five new GRAMMY Awards categories to be awarded at the 2023 GRAMMYs, among other category amendments. This is massive news for fans of rich, introspective and deep songwriting, meditative sounds, video game soundtracks, spoken word poetry, socially conscious songs, classical & opera, and everything in between.

The 2023 GRAMMYs introduced the five new award categories including:

  • Songwriter Of The Year, Non-Classical
  • Best Alternative Music Performance
  • Best Americana Performance
  • Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games And Other Interactive Media
  • Best Spoken Word Poetry Album
  • The Recording Academy has also introduced a new Special Merit Award titled the Best Song For Social Change. Other amendments include changes to the GRAMMY Awards entry, voting processes, and more. See the full list of the new GRAMMY Awards categories here!

The GRAMMYs ceased their practice of secret committee nominations in the Big Four categories last year, following criticisms from artists including the Weeknd, Drake, and Zayn Malik, who will continue their boycott in 2023 as well. The Academy also added more voters from “traditionally underrepresented groups” to its voting pool.

When And Where Are The 2023 GRAMMYs?

The 2023 GRAMMYs will air live on Sunday, February 5, from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Which Channel Will Broadcast The 2023 GRAMMYs?

Who Is Nominated At The 2023 GRAMMYs?

The nominations went largely as predicted, with several massive artists establishing their fame game once again, including a few major surprises. Beyoncé, Adele, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar and Lizzo are the five mega musicians who are each nominated in the top three all-genre categories: best record, album and song of the year.

Beyoncé leads the field with nine nominations that put her in a tie for all-time GRAMMY nominations with her husband, Jay-Z, as she is looking to expand her enormous lifetime haul of GRAMMYs into unconquered territories. Kendrick Lamar heels her behind with eight nods, followed by Adele and Brandi Carlile with seven nods each.

Since 2017, it is for the first time that Beyoncé and Adele will compete together and it would be exciting to see the two music goddesses together on the battleground. But if you think there’s any rivalry, you’d be wrong as you may remember, upon receiving the Album of the Year Grammy for her album, 25, Adele tearfully called Beyoncé “the artist of [her] life” and said she had deserved to win the trophy. Four artists entered the race with six nominations each, including Future, Harry Styles, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled and Randy Merrill.

Voting on the nominations will take place from December 14, 2022, through January 4, 2023. Below is the complete list of the nominees for the 2023 GRAMMYs, along with your ultimate guide to watching the show.
