To ring in the New Year, R5 played three shows at the Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada and we were lucky enough to be able to attend the show on New Years Eve.

The band came out on stage with matching red velvet suits, besides keyboardist Rydel Lynch who wore a dress, and immediately went into the first song. After playing a few of their hits such as “Let’s Not Be Alone Tonight” and “F.E.E.L.G.O.O.D.” the band invited all of the audience members to the front of the stage to party.

After the song was over, security made all of the fans go back to their assigned seats, and the band just wasn’t taking it! In response to security’s decision, guitarist Rocky Lynch and lead vocalist/guitarist Ross Lynch jumped into the crowd to sing to Calum Worthy, Ross’ co-star from the Disney show “Austin and Ally”.

About 45 minutes into the set, the band made everyone aware that there was a scheduling conflict with a Carly Rae Jepson gig and that they only had time for one more song. With limited time left, R5 asked the fans what song they wanted to hear, and almost as if it were  planned, every audience member yelled out “Smile.”

So it was set, R5 played their single and gave the crowd something to smile about. The band then played their final song of the night. Audience members gathered as close to the stage as possible and danced along with the crew.

Rocky, Rydel, Ross, Ellington, and Riker gave their final bow and made their way to the cluster of fans, throwing out miscellaneous items such as guitar picks and drum sticks. Fans fought to try and get an item from the band members they look up to, some left successful, others left with the satisfaction of being able to attend the show.

All in all, the concert was a blast for people of all ages. You could glance at any corner in the room and see anywhere from a mom and toddler dancing, to a teen singing their heart out, over to a group of adults standing up and grooving along.

You can see R5 in the next couple months as they are touring all over the U.S. along with some international dates. To see if the band will be coming near you, make sure to check here.
