Can you believe it has been three complete years since Kiesza launched onto the music scene with debut single “Hideaway“? This Canadian superstar was a global sensation overnight, but her follow-up singles never quite matched her success of her debut. Now she’s back, with a brand new track for her fans titled “Dearly Beloved”.
Kiesza, real name Kiesa Ellestad, launched this new track in honour of her friend Alice. Kiesza said of this release: “When my best friend Alice passed away nearly a year and a half ago, her white electric guitar was passed along to me. In her memory and because I love her so much, I promised myself that I would not let it sit in its case collecting dust. I was going to play the hell out of it, just as she would have done. So that’s what I’m doing. Inspired by her and all of you, I am absolutely ecstatic to be able to start off this new chapter with my new song, Dearly Beloved.”

Kiesza released this song and music video today. In the video, she rocks out to this electro funk song in a multicoloured costume and white Dr Martens.

Directed by Supple Nam, this video is a great ode to her friend, Alice. She has fun with it and gives it her all.
The song itself is a completely new direction for Kiesza. It has a 70’s and 80’s inspirational feel to it, all the while entirely catchy and very current.
There are elements of her first single “Hideaway” in the song, easily making the track identifiable as Kiesza’s. It is quite the disco-current ballad; there isn’t a song quite like this one out at the moment.
The sound is very futuristic, even though it is clearly inspired by various musical genres. Once again, Kiesza has astounded us all with this upbeat, groovy, disco-themed, electronic-house song that will remain in your head for the rest of the day.
This song is the start of Kiesza’s comeback. She previously released the incredibly catchy “Give It To The Moment” at the end of 2015, which featured Djemba Djemba. Expect more new music this year.
