She was born and named Khia Shamone Chambers on8. November 1977 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Her father worked in Miami in the early ’90s and her mother, Carol Belinda Chambers, was a data entry specialist but passed away in 2001.
She spent the early stages of her childhood in the Germantown neighborhood before moving to Tampa, Florida at the age of 11. In Tampa, Khia went through Dowdell Middle School before attending Hillsborough High School, where she was rusticated in her ninth grade. After her expulsion, she finished her education at another school.
In her quest to make a living, she worked as a bartender at Club Xs in Tampa, Florida before turning to music full-time to launch her career.
Entering the music industry very ambitious and determined, Khia started slowly without a large following until 2002, when she released her first studio album, titled Miss Racket, under Dirty Down & Artemis Records. The album was widely accepted; All thanks to the lead single track titled My Neck, My Back (Lick It) The album sailed and eventually peaked at number 42 on the US Billboard 200, RIAA certified the album Gold.
Following the success of her first album, she released her second studio album entitled Gangstress in July 2006, the album which debuted at number 67 on the Billboard R&B chart was produced entirely by Khia.
