Food Network fans love the Neelys. Their down home country cooking and fun banter with one another is enough to make anyone fall in love with this awesome couple, but apparently it’s not enough to keep them married. The couple, we learned recently, has decided to file for divorce.
After 20 years of marriage, Pat and Gina Neely have decided to call it quits. The couple issued a joint statement on Friday to let their fans know of their decision and to get the word out on their own accord.
“Today we announced that we are ending our marriage of 20 years for irreconcilable differences. This was a tough decision, but we believe it is the best decision for us,” the couple said in their joint statement. “Together we have built a strong brand as They Neelys. Moving forward our focus will be on our individual bands and we are optimistic about our respective futures.
Aside from their hit show, “Down Home with the Neelys,” the couple has a restaurant in New York City. They had another restaurant in Memphis until last summer. What they plan on doing individually is unknown at the moment. Gina has been working on getting fit. She’s lost nearly 20 pounds this year, while Pat has been working with Family Dollar on a campaign to fight hunger. This is the first time in their public life – they have been public figures since their show premiered on the Food Network in 2008 – that the couple has worked separately, and it might have been a foreshadowing of the dissolution of their marriage.
What will happen to their show is unknown at the moment, but it seems that they will not pursue the show in the future since their announcement that they’d be pursuing their individual careers and interests.
