A love triangle turned deadly when one woman went overboard by killing the other out of jealousy— here are the details surrounding the tragedy.

Romance is a cocktail of different positive emotions; however, its absence could lead to the blooming of negative emotions. That is the situation Tiara Vinson found herself in when she let jealousy overcome her.

Vinson was an active-duty soldier stationed at Fort Bragg. She had once been in a romantic relationship with a man who was believed to have moved on with another servicewoman stationed at the same base with Vinson.

Her name was Kelia Horton, and she had been 22 when she lost her life. The incident happened outside a home in Fayetteville, N.C., around 1:30 p.m. on May 7.

Apparently, the house belonged to the man, and the two servicewomen ran into each other, after which a verbal altercation broke out.

Cumberland County District Attorney Billy West said that Vinson started firing into Horton's vehicle after their verbal row. It was in broad daylight, and some eyewitnesses called the police, but it was too late.

It is unknown if Vinson has hired an attorney to defend her or filed a plea.

The police arrived to find Horton suffering from a gunshot wound— they tried different emergency measures to keep her alive but to no avail. She later gave up the fight at a nearby hospital.

Vinson, who joined the Army in 2014, has been charged with "first-degree murder" and "discharging a firearm into occupied property." She was arrested on May 7 and is reportedly being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.

The late Horton had been a mother of two whose only mistake was starting an affair with Vinson's former boyfriend. She was a motor pool clerk assigned to the 525th Military Intelligence Brigade at Fort Bragg.

According to Horton's cousin, Jadiah Farris, she was the "sweetest" person. Farris said, "She would give you the shirt off of her back. There was nothing bad you can say about Kelia."

Other members of her family have also called the late Horton a woman with a deep love for people and her country hence her time in the army. For now, it is unknown if Vinson has hired an attorney to defend her or filed a plea, but one thing is for sure, justice will be served.
